How many gallons of paint are required to paint the entire area if one gallon covers 25 square feet? Note: 10 ft. 7 in. is equivalent to 10.58 ft.

This question still have no answer summary yet.

I still think there's something wrong with your problem. A gallon of paint covers far more than 25 square feet. Are you sure it doesn't say that a gallon covers 250 square feet?

Also -- I think you may have missed the height of the room. If the room is square -- and has 10.58 feet on each side, you need the height of the walls -- which typically is 8 feet.

The area of a square has equal lengths and widths. A square is a rectangle with equal lenths and widths...right? I used the a=LH which would be a= (10.58ft.)(10.58ft), A=111.9364 sq. ft./25 or 4.47

The question does state quite clearly "square walls" so the ca 18 gallons is correct given the figures in the question. The coverage in the question is closer to coverage for 1/2-1 litre (depending on the paint type) rather than 1 gallon.

As part of the remodeling project at the Patton-Fuller Community Hospital, the square walls that house the children’s play area need to be painted.

How many gallons of paint are required to paint the entire area if one gallon covers 25 square feet? Note: 10 ft. 7 in. is equivalent to 10.58 ft.

This is the whole problem the only thing missing is the diagram that shows 10ft 7in on the hospital's blueprint but it does not provide height and the 25 gallons is correct, also.

The issue you are discussing with the height can be explained by the fact the height and length of a triangle is equal is size, so if the length is given the other one is also given. Correct?

triangle? You probably mean rectangle.

If that's what you're given, then it must need 17.9 gallons.

Please ask your teacher about this problem.

No, it is a sqaure room. The lesson is on sqaures- finding the volume, perimeter, and area

To paint the walls, we need to know their height.

If each wall is 10.58 feet wide and 10.58 feet tall, then each wall covers 111.9364 sq. ft. The room has 4 walls.

111.9364 * 4 = 447.7456 square feet.

447.7456 / 25 = ?

A square room usually refers to its floor dimensions. It doesn't consider the height of the walls. But in any case, the coverage of a gallon of paint is way off. Please check with your teacher to make sure this problem was stated correctly.

Right.

However, I wonder if this problem is correct. Most gallons of paint cover far more than 25 square feet.

Also -- your problem doesn't indicate what you're painting -- walls, ceiling, floor?

The questions is response to a square room whose sides are 10ft 7in.

Are you just painting the floor? Or the ceiling?

If the walls are to be painted, we need to know the height of the room.

but most gallon of paint covers more wall area....so 17.9 gallons or 18 gallons would be correct for this problem
